Renovation 2004–2008
IMPF renovated the hamburgmuseum in several stages over four years: overhauling the fabric of the building, renewing the wiring, and improving fire protection and insulation. Funding for the work totalling approx. €9.3 million came from HGV, the City Culture Department, the Museum and the IMPF.

IMPF is a company owned by the City of Hamburg for the purpose of facility
management of the city’s museums and police and fire service buildings. IMPF
supplies integrated all-round management services in all-life cycle phases for
143 properties with ca. 340,000 m² of floor space.
Since 2003 IMPF has invested approximately €84 million in its museum buildings
for repairs, conversions, expansion and routine maintenance. The renovation programme
was conducted in numerous short phases during normal operations to cause
minimum disruption to exhibition and is scheduled to be completed in 2012.
